Childminders
A registered childminder is a person who works with children for more than two hours a day in their own home either all day or before and after school.
Childminders provide learning experiences in a home environment for small groups which could include cooking, shopping, gardening, visits to the park and the library.
Childminders are very flexible in their working hours and can provide before and after school care which includes collecting and dropping off. Some childminders are also able to provide overnight care and flexible sessions for those who might do shift work.
All childminders will have had the relevant checks, training and credentials and are regularly monitored by Ofsted and Plymouth City Council.
Childminders work to the same learning requirements as other early years providers.
Many of our registered childminders offer funded early education sessions if your child is eligible.
To view the current list of registered childminders in Plymouth please use the Family Information Directory (FID).
The FID is a place where parents and carers can find childcare and view the details of services provided by these settings in Plymouth.
