Our extensive school site offers a wide variety of learning environments; large, bright classrooms, shared learning spaces, 2 libraries, 2 computer suites, music room, 4 playgrounds, outdoor amphitheatre, woodland area and a large school field.

Within our site are the community services of Willow Child Care Centre (Nursery and after -school/holiday care). We are extremely proud of Woodford Primary School and the dedicated and skilled staff who focus on the needs of each child, ensuring they feel confident, happy, safe and are well equipped both academically and in life skills, for their future educational and life challenges.  Our children are our greatest ambassadors, their high standards of behaviour, positive attitudes to learning and all round achievements, are a credit to the school and the result of the close working partnership we have with parents.

We foster a caring ethos and have 3 main rules

  1. Respect for Ourselves
  2. Respect for Others
  3. Respect for our Environment.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect staff, volunteers and parents to share this commitment.

Awards

Class teachers adapt the curriculum for all children in their class through high quality, differentiated teaching. Where possible, the school will provide additional teaching support and resources.

We hold an Oasis group which helps children settle into school on a Monday morning. We also have nurture groups and service children groups to support them during times of emotional difficulty or loss. Nurture groups can help children who have difficulty socialising with their friends.

We also supports children with emotional difficulties such as anxiety, bereavement and personal trauma. Activities may include cooking, sewing, art and sport.

The Learning Mentor can help children develop their sense of self-belief and help develop skills for children to engage in school life.

  • Woodford Primary School currently has two entrances and the school is on split levels. The school has two main buildings. The lower level is the Foundation and Key Stage one building and upper level the Key Stage Two. There are chairlifts available within the buildings in order to avoid difficulties in accessing stairways. All the classrooms are light, spacious and airy with large windows and views across Plympton, the school field and playgrounds. The school has 3 playgrounds, a field and outside play areas for the Foundation children.

There are two main walking routes for parents dropping off children, the main vehicular entrance and via a long pathway to the south of the site. There is one accessible parking space provided. The school is likely to be very difficult to access by people with mobility disabilities if they do not have vehicular transport due to the topography of the site.
