The Oasis Project is an internet café and resource centre which also provides healthy cooking courses for a range of abilities and can be tailored to specific needs such as diabetics. Also a range of life skill courses such as literacy, numeracy, computer skills, English for speakers of other languages.

We provide practical care and training, and emotional and spiritual support in a community cafe setting., helping people to build a future and bring hope to lives in crisis.
We work with our associated project, Plymouth Foodbank and the church at Plymouth Central Hall
We encourage people to develop new skills through a community music group and art groups or through becoming a volunteer and helping in the kitchen/café or in the food bank warehouse.
There is always something going on - weight reduction group or time bank helping people to share skills. Come in for a chat and if we can't provide what you are looking for we may know who can.
Example of our courses :
- Literacy
Phased by forms, loco over letters? Are you a closet poet or a budding author? Or do you just need help to get started overcoming your fears? The sessions are based at The Crown Centre which is easily accessible by bus.
- Numeracy
Aimed to support people to become more confident with numbers, calculations and using figures in everyday life.
- Level 2 Food Safety
Oasis Project runs this course regularly at our centre in Manor Street Stonehouse and can run courses at other venues for groups - minimum of 10 attendees. We have a very good pass rate and sessions are relaxed and friendly. The course is either one-day or can be spread over two days if preferred.
- Cookery classes
Tuesdays 1.30pm to 5pm.Cost £45 to cover a 6 week course - payment terms are one week in advance, cancellation policy applies. A 6 week course which will cover the preparation and serving of healthy meals. The cost includes the ingredients and tutor. You will learn about budgeting, meal planning and dietary content.
Examples of meals prepared are:- chicken curry and naan bread
- vegetable lasagne and garlic bread
- stew and dumplings
- fish cakes with home-made salsa
- Art for Personal Development
The sessions will include activities such as mosaics, felting, printing, drawing and painting. The group will provide a safe and supportive environment for people to socialise, learn and increase their confidence.
We are situated in Stonehouse but our courses are open to all, some courses are specified for those moving into further training. But please contact us for more details
