New EHC Needs Assessments

Since the start of the coronavirus (Covid- 19) the EHC statutory assessment process has continued as outlined in the Code of Practice. The Government issued temporary changes to legislation but these changes are due to end on 25th September 2020.

Since the beginning of August in order to improve communication and response times each new agreed assessment case is allocated a Caseworker and 0-25 SEND Officer who will work alongside the family/young person during the EHC Needs Assessment process. This will replace the assessment coordinator role.

Due to Covid 19, we will continue in the majority of cases to work 'virtually'  and will continue drafting EHC Plans, without Multi Agency Draft Planning Meetings.

If you have any concerns or specific information you would like us to know about a particular child or young person going through an EHC Needs Assessment, please do contact the Caseworker and 0-25 SEND Officer allocated to their case, their contact details will be on the letters and information sent regarding agreement to carry out an EHC Needs Assessment or you can email at

Amended Plans and Annual Reviews

Thank you everyone for your ongoing work in ensuring that annual reviews continue to take place for all children and young people with EHCP's. We are currently in the process of developing an Annual Reviewing Team and as such the team have a new email address. Please submit any completed reviews to this address or if you have any queries regarding individual CYP or processes please contact the team at

Over the coming weeks the Annual Reviewing Team will be issuing all educational settings who have CYP with EHC Plans, a list which informs them of those we understand will be on roll with them in September. Included in this email will be copies of EHC Plans for the CYP in the Y6 and Y11 transitional groups.  We will be requesting that for the Y6 and Y11 students rather than using the standard annual review paperwork, settings make any required amendments onto the plan itself. If you have any questions or require support with this please do not hesitate to contact the annual reviewing team on their new email
