Alzheimer's Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today.

Dementia is the UK's biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there's currently no cure.

We know it is scary facing up to it, but we must confront the biggest health and social care challenge of our time.

Thanks to your support, Alzheimer's Society is facing dementia head on. Whether you're a fundraiser, donor, partner, or affected by dementia in any way, we're working with you to build a movement. Inspired by your voices, we're leading the way in support, society and research.

As the largest and most influential dementia charity in the UK, we are calling on everyone to unite. Working together we know we will achieve our vision - a world without dementia.

COVID-19 update

This is an extremely worrying time for people affected by dementia. Living with dementia at any time brings everyday challenges for the person and those around them. Coronavirus is making daily life much harder for people affected by dementia, and many are needing a higher level of care and support during this time.

  • Our Dementia Connect support line and online forum, TalkingPoint have been responding to thousands of calls and queries from people concerned about COVID-19 issues.
  • We are currently offering 'welfare calls' from trained staff members or volunteers who are available to check on peoples' safety and wellbeing, and also offer advice or signposting to other support.
  • Through our Dementia Friends and Dementia Friendly Communities Programme, we have produced this guide for volunteers. We also have information and guides for a range of sectors available on our website.
  • We have had to suspend our face to face groups and activities, but are offering virtual Singing for the Brain groups to enable people to continue to connect with each other.
  • We have been working with central government to address the concerns people are sharing with us. Most notably, we successfully campaigned for COVID-19 care home death data to be included in daily ONS updates and are working with the Department of Food and Rural Affairs to ask that the essential shopping needs of people affected by dementia and other vulnerable groups are prioritised.
