HIV is a viral infection that can be passed on through unprotected sex, by sharing infected injecting equipment and from an HIV positive mother to her child during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.
Out Youth are LGBTQ+ youth groups for 11 to 19-year-olds (or up to 25 for those with additional needs) that offer a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and non-binary young people, or young people who may be questioning their sexual or gender identity.
All of our staff are specially trained to support anyone who experienced rape or sexual assault. This could have been recently or in the past. You will always be believed and treated with the utmost dignity and respect.
Sexual Health in Plymouth (SHiP) is a partnership of experienced organisations working together to deliver sexual health, HIV, contraception and abortion services for Plymouth.
The Zone provides free and confidential sexual health and advice, delivered by trained volunteers and specialist clinical staff from other agencies for young people.
Derriford Hospital is the main Sexual Health in Plymouth (SHiP) hub. We offer STI testing and treatment, HIV care, routine and emergency contraception, and abortion services.
