Advisors can offer guidance on a range of issues involved in health, education, immigration matters, housing, finance and leisure activities which includes signposting and referring service users to the relevant local agencies.

Also, we offer emergency support for asylum seekers facing short or long-term difficulties via our food programme. There is a clothing store open during drop-in sessions, which provides second-hand clothing and household goods for our service users.

Advice and support

Our project support workers are here to provide specialist, impartial advice to asylum seekers in Devon and Cornwall. We work closely with health services, solicitors, local charities and Plymouth city council to provide a comprehensive package of support for our service users. Our aim is to promote independence, prevent destitution and encourage the integration of our service users into the local community.

Emergency food support

Our food store is run entirely by our team of friendly, hard-working volunteers. We provide weekly food parcels to asylum seekers and refugees who have no other means of supporting themselves. If you know someone who might be eligible for food parcels, feel free to call our office and we can discuss a referral with you. Our food is provided in partnership with the Devon and Cornwall Food Association.

English classes

A dedicated team of volunteers run free English classes for asylum seekers at our centre in Plymouth three days every week. We accept learners of all abilities, with no waiting lists and no need to pre-book.

IT suite

Thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery, we have eight computers available for free internet access. This facility is available to asylum seekers and can be an essential way of keeping in contact with family, friends and legal representatives. To use our internet facility, people just need to sign in at reception and then speak to the volunteer running the suite on that particular day.
