Udal Garth Care Home

We have an experienced staff team who have a good understanding of and empathy for the needs of people with autism and related conditions and who enable their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs to be met.

Each person at our service has a Person Centred Plan, which they help design and each plan is specifically designed to reflect his or her personal needs and choices. Each person is assigned a key worker who ensures a holistic approach to their support.

Living at Udal Garth

Udal Garth is a large imposing detached residence with extensive and secluded gardens to the rear which are south facing and enjoy a pleasant outlook. There are a number of summer houses, one of which is used as a gym.

Internally the house is furnished to a high standard and provides seven en-suite bedrooms together with a one bed flat let containing a lounge, bedroom, corridor and bathroom. There is a good sized lounge and dining room together with offices and kitchen.

The layout of the house allows individuals to access communal spaces as well as having the privacy of their own rooms.

A range of activities

We encourage the people we support to develop feelings of security and to form relationships with others in the immediate and the extended community. We actively encourage involvement of families in supporting the person we are assisting - and seek to involve them in discussions concerning their welfare.

Everyone we support is encouraged to achieve their goals and aspirations. For some people this means attending college to access various courses, including cooking, art and daily living skills. For others it means work placements and other day opportunities in line with their goals.

It is our aim to assist each person in the development of skills that will enable their full participation in the life of the immediate and wider community and live the life they want to.

Udal Garth is situated in the coastal town of Torpoint in Cornwall. It is in a pleasant residential area within a short walk of the town centre shops and amenities.

Udal Garth may be suitable for those who meet the following admissions criteria:

• Individuals with autism
• Individuals with learning disabilities
• Individuals who require positive behavioural support
• May also have problems communicating
