About us

The Plymouth Online Directory - POD - is jointly funded by Plymouth City Council.

The aim of the directory is to offer information, advice, help and support services for children, young people and families who live and work in Plymouth.  It also supports those who work within or have an interest in family support services.

Early help is about getting support when you need it and there are lots of organisations listed in the POD directory which can help families and young people.

Accreditation Schemes

Support With Confidence Accreditation

Plymouth City Council’s Trading Standards and Cooperative Commissioning & Adult Social Care have signed up to a quality assurance initiative called Support with Confidence. The scheme quality assesses care and support services so that people can be confident that every member of the scheme is reliable, trustworthy, understanding and responsive to their needs. The approval process includes a rigorous audit, thorough background checks and checks that the business ensures quality, client safety and staff training.

Buy With Confidence Accreditaiton

Buy With Confidence is designed to take the headache out of finding traders you can trust. All the businesses registered on the web site have been vetted and approved by Trading Standards to ensure that they operate in a legal, honest and fair way.

Dementia Quality Mark

The Dementia Quality Mark is an accreditation process for care homes that provide a dementia service. The Dementia Quality Mark can help families wanting to select a care home by giving them the reassurance that the care being given meets the needs of those with dementia and confidence that ongoing improvements in practice will lead to better outcomes for those receiving care.

End of Life Accreditation

St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth train local care homes and domiciliary care agencies in how to provide good end of life care. The programme is called the Six Steps Programme, as there are six key steps that an organisation has to complete to pass the course and receive the St Luke’s Six Step award. Their award is reviewed every year to ensure that the standards are maintained. Organisations that receive this award will be listed on this website under the ‘End of Life Accreditation’ filter.
