You may want to talk to another parent to share experiences of bringing up children in today’s world. A good place to start would be by going along to your school or if your child is under 5 your children’s centre and ask them if they know of any parent groups locally.

There are a number of online forums and help lines available. The Family LivesGingerbread and Mumsnet provide opportunities for parents to share their experiences in their themed online forums.

If your child is disabled you may want to get in touch with parents who are in a similar situation and you can do this by contacting the local parent carer forum which in Plymouth is called Your Child Your Voice. The forum is a group of parents and carers of disabled children who work with local authorities, education settings, health providers and other providers to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of disabled children and families.
