For all parents of young children, aged 0-5, your Health Visitor is usually the main point of contact if you have any concerns or questions about your child’s development.
Health Visitors are qualified Nurses or Midwives who have done additional specialist training to work with children and families. There are four teams in Plymouth.
In our teams we have a mix of staff who deliver a programme of care to the local community. The teams are made up of Health Visitors, Community Public Health Nurses, and Family Health Workers.
We work with families and predominantly children under the age of 5, supporting in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme. Our role within the community is to identify health and developmental needs of children and support families at key points in children’s early years.
There are four Health Visiting teams - one in each of the localities:
- North Locality Health Visiting Team – based at Estover Clinic
- East Locality Health Visiting Team – based at Plymstock Clinic
- South Locality Health Visiting Team - based at Mount Gould Hospital
- West Locality Heath Visiting Team – based at The Beacon, North Prospect
