Tamar FOLK Children's Centre

Tamar FOLK Children's Centre is managed by Barnardo's and provides a variety of groups and activities and welcomes all local parents and parents to be. Most of Tamar FOLK Children's Centre sessions run from Tamar FOLK Children's Centre, Victoria Road Primary School, Trelawney Avenue, St Budeaux or The Barn, Kit Hill Crescent, Barne Barton.

Our aim as a Children's Centre is to provide a seamless service of support for families with children under 5 right through from pregnancy until school.

We provide a wide variety of sessions including Great Expectations, breastfeeding support and many stay and play sessions. The Children's Centre also runs a Chatterbox group which is a stay and play session with a baby weighing clinic covered by the local Health Visitor teams.

Some of our groups are drop in groups where everybody is welcome and no pre booking is required. However, due to limited spaces booking is essential on some sessions so please contact the centre to speak to a member of staff.

Groups and activities run by the Children's Centre follow the Five to Thrive approach. Five to Thrive is a family friendly approach to promoting healthy brain development and positive relationships. Central to the Five to Thrive approach is a set of five key activities: Respond, Cuddle, Relax, Play and Talk: all of which are promoted and encouraged during sessions by the Children's Centre staff.
