Shameless Theatre aims to provide opportunities for adults, and young adults, to learn new skills and improve wellbeing through accessible theatre-focused activities.
Shameless Theatre intends to focus on engaging the individuals and/or communities within the city who feel a sense of purposelessness, who lack a sense of belonging, and who may be vulnerable to feelings of shame for a variety of reasons. We want to people to feel empowered; to learn the importance of creative expression, take the time to find their creative voice, learn how to use it, and be given life-changing opportunities to be seen, heard, and valued.
In 2019 we want to explore the topic of Purpose. Purpose can guide life decisions, influence behaviour, offer a sense of direction, and create meaning.
Through a series of accessible creative workshops, we want to explore what Purpose is, and means, to the people of Plymouth. These workshops will provide an important opportunity for people who do not usually engage in art activities to try something new with the support of a team of professional artists. We will then share a piece of verbatim theatre with audiences, that not only reflects the journey of those involved, but allows the opportunity to share their stories creatively, take to the stage, work backstage, and assist in the overall creation and production of professional performance.
