Our Recovery Centre in Plymouth sits within Devonport Naval Base and is accessible to all serving and Veteran wounded, injured and sick personnel, and their loved ones. It is the main hub for Recovery in the West, purpose-built to give those who have served our country a second chance at life.
Facilities include a state-of-the-art gym with adaptive equipment, 25m swimming pool, hydrotherapy pool and café. Visitors can take part in activities and courses to help them on their recovery journey. A specialist Support Hub gives service users access to welfare advice from multiple Service charities and agencies who all work together for the benefit of the individual and their family.
Veterans are encouraged to undertake their own recovery programme under the guidance of specialist staff, while Serving personnel are supported by rehabilitation units across the region and Ministry of Defence staff. Programmes may involve educational courses, work placements, clinical appointments or sporting activities. These activities are designed to improve personal independence, raise morale, and develop camaraderie with others who have been injured or become sick.
Community Recovery
We recognise that the West is a big region. As well as being able to access the Recovery Centre, we take recovery services out into the community to allow more people the opportunity to be supported, in more places more of the time.
In each community, we work with local leisure centres to bring the essence of what is on offer in the Recovery Centre to life in that area. Each month, visitors can drop in to take part in free sporting activities, receive welfare advice, access physical and mental health support, and enjoy conversation with comrades over a coffee.
