Council contact details for parents with disabled children

The Gateway can be used for any general information and advice question that relates to a child pre-birth through to 18 years of age (or 25 in relation to SEND matters).


SEND decision making in Plymouth

We are required to review and evaluate the Plymouth local offer with families on an annual basis.
 

0 - 25 Statutory Assessment Team

The 0 to 25 SEND Statutory Assessment Team coordinate the statutory support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Children's Disability Team

We provide support for disabled children and young people, their families and carers. We work with families to understand their needs and plan how to provide support that will make a positive difference.

Communication Interaction Team

The Communication Interaction Team (CIT) consists of a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers and specialist support workers. CIT can offer support, advice and guidance for children and young people who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) as their primary need. This includes children and young people on the autism spectrum.

Deaf and Hearing Impairments - Plymouth Advisory Team for Sensory Support (PATSS)

The term deaf refers to all levels of hearing loss in children, including a partial or total loss of hearing. This includes children or young people who have a hearing loss, hearing impairment or have glue ear.

Plymouth Advisory Team for Sensory Support (PATSS)

The Plymouth Advisory Team for Sensory Support Team helps children and young people with a sensory impairment by supporting and enabling independent learning and the development of appropriate life skills.

Plymouth Educational Psychology Service

Educational Psychologists have expertise in psychological theory and research that helps to understand how children and young people develop, learn, think, feel, and behave.

Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board

Every council has to set up a Local Safeguarding Children Board which is responsible for improving the wellbeing of children in the area.

SEND Children's Occupational Therapy Service

The SEND Children's Occupational Therapy Service provide support and services to children and young people (up to age 18) and their families, with permanent, substantial and/or complex physical disabilities.

SEND Strategic Advice and Support (SEND SAS)

SEND Strategic Advice and Support (SEND SAS) offers high-quality support and advice to early years settings, schools and 14-25 providers in order to develop their practice and provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.

Visual and Sight Impairment - Plymouth Advisory Team for Sensory Support (PATSS)

Visual impairment is when your child has sight loss that can't be fully corrected using glasses or contact lenses.
