SEND Teams

The 0 to 25 SEND Statutory Assessment Team coordinate the statutory support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We provide support for disabled children and young people, their families and carers. We work with families to understand their needs and plan how to provide support that will make a positive difference.

The Communication Interaction Team (CIT) consists of a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers and specialist support workers. CIT can offer support, advice and guidance for children and young people who have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) as their primary need. This includes children and young people on the autism spectrum.

The term deaf refers to all levels of hearing loss in children, including a partial or total loss of hearing. This includes children or young people who have a hearing loss, hearing impairment or have glue ear.

The Plymouth Advisory Team for Sensory Support Team helps children and young people with a sensory impairment by supporting and enabling independent learning and the development of appropriate life skills.

Plymouth have an Early Help and SEND advice line through which you can book a conversation with a Family Support Worker to talk about any worries or questions you may have.

The Early Year Inclusion Service supports pre-school children with additional needs and disabilities. The service includes several teams; these teams can provide support through home visits, nursery visits or by attending meetings with parents and professionals.

Educational Psychologists have expertise in psychological theory and research that helps to understand how children and young people develop, learn, think, feel, and behave.

Every council has to set up a Local Safeguarding Children Board which is responsible for improving the wellbeing of children in the area.

Portage provides an early intervention home learning service for pre-school aged children with additional needs and/or disabilities and their families.

The Quay Partnership, Plymouth is a collaboration between five Plymouth Special Schools covering all Key Stages and all aspects of SEND.

The SEND Children's Occupational Therapy Service provide support and services to children and young people (up to age 18) and their families, with permanent, substantial and/or complex physical disabilities.

SEND Strategic Advice and Support (SEND SAS) offers high-quality support and advice to early years settings, schools and 14-25 providers in order to develop their practice and provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
