Benefits, grants and tax credits

When someone with special educational needs and/or a disability turns 16, 17, 18, or 19 they become entitled to their own benefits and support.


Disabled facilities grants

A Disabled Facility Grant can help pay for home improvements so you can get about easier and remain safe in your house or flat.


Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children

The DLA rate depends on the level of help the child needs and your child may need an assessment to out what help they need.


Blue Badge scheme for disabled parking

A Blue Badge allows people with severe mobility difficulties to park near shops, stations and other facilities. The scheme is open to people who travel as a driver or as a passenger.

0-25 Statutory Assessment Team

The Council's 0-25 SEND Statutory Assessment Team coordinates the statutory support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

4 Me and My Friends

This group is for young people who are on the Autistic Spectrum and aged 8 and up, they don't have to have been statemented or diagnosed but do need to be on the spectrum. Service provided by Plymouth City council.

About the Plymouth's Local Offer

Plymouth's Local Offer contains information about services and support for children and young people from birth to 25 years old who have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND), and for their families and carers.

Accident and Emergency - Derriford Hospital

The Emergency Department at Derriford Hospital is for patients with a variety of urgent and emergency conditions. This is a walk-in service which means at peak times the department can get busy.

ACE Schools Multi Academy Trust

We provide full time education and support for up to 300 pupils aged 4-19 who are no longer engaged in mainstream education. Referrals can only be made by either the local authority or a school, for pupils who are either awaiting a specialist placement, in need of additional provision, or have been excluded from school.
