Plymouth District Scouts

Plymouth District has 16 Scout Groups, most of which have Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. There are also 4 Explorer units across the city.

Age groups 

  • Beavers:  6-8 years
  • Cubs:  8-10 years
  • Scouts: 10-14 years
  • Explorers: 14-18 years

Where we meet

Stonehouse, Devonport, St. Budeaux, Keyham, Ernesettle, Tamerton Foliot, Southway, Roborough, Derriford, Crownhill, Manadon, Higher and Lower Compton, Peverell, Mutley and St.Judes. The 4 Explorer units are in Higher and Lower Compton, Keyham and Crownhill.

Explorer Scouts have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh and Ten Tors schemes at a fraction of the cost offered by most schools.

The Scout Network is for members over 18 years and has links with local universities and colleges. The network offers social activities and activities leading to advanced awards.

The Active Support Unit is for any adult member wishing to offer general support to Scouting. 

The Scouts own a water activities centre in the west of the city on the River Tamar, campsites at Glenholt and Yelverton and the main activity centre with a campsite at Blindman's Wood, Outland Road, Plymouth. In addition to these facilities, most Groups have their own campsites on Dartmoor.
