Access Plymouth is a local charity which exists to help Plymouth residents and visitors with their mobility needs. Housed in a purpose built premises in Mayflower East Car Park, we provide scooters, wheelchairs and powerchairs for hire and sale.
For travel, we have door to door minibuses with wheelchair access and a car service using volunteer drivers to take you around Plymouth.
How we can help
We are part of the national Shopmobility scheme renting out scooters and wheelchairs to use around Plymouth City Centre.
The service is available to residents and visitors to Plymouth regardless of whether their disability is permanent or temporary.
Dial-A-Ride is a door to door transport service for anywhere within Plymouth for elderly and disabled residents.
The service is available to Plymouth residents who are eligible for a concessionary bus pass, but struggle to access the bus service - this may be due to the distance they operate from your home, physical difficulties in boarding the bus or there is simply not a bus to where you want to go.
Community Car is a not for profit car-sharing scheme to help people with mobility problems get around Plymouth.
Volunteer drivers, using their own vehicles, can take you to the shops, hairdressers, doctors, dentist, lunch clubs, day centres, hospital visits or practically anywhere else you need to go in Plymouth.

Volunteering
We are often looking for additional people to help run the Access Plymouth scheme which we operate from our premises in Mayflower Street Car Park services and appreciate your considering helping our Plymouth charity. There are a number of ways you can help us, from working in our branch to volunteering as one of our drivers and even becoming a friend.
Shopmobility
- Monday, 9.30am to 4.30pm
- Tuesday to Friday, 9.15am to 4.30pm
- Saturday, 9.15am to 4pm
Please note first time users MUST pre book a familiarisation test. No-one will be able to use our scooters without it.
To use the Dial A Ride and Community Car Service you must be registered with us.
